Volleyball Rules

7-9 Division

  • Warm-up time on the court depends on the season but is generally between 5 and 20 minutes
  • A team needs 5 players to avoid a forfeit.
  • Matches are generally played in three sets.  Some seasons each match has three sets and some seasons the match is over when a team wins 2 sets
  • Serves must be made behind the 10ft line.  Servers may not cross the line during a serve.
  • Where possible, net height should be between 6’6″ and 7′.
  • Players rotate in and out on each change-of-possession that team scores.
  • Every child must be allowed to go through the full rotation of all 6 stations before being subbed out.  This includes serving (all players must serve).
  • Not substituting players out of rotation except in cases of injury or illness.
  • A child may serve no more than 5 times in a row.
  • Net violations are not called.
  • Sets 1 & 2 are played to 25 points.  Set 3, if necessary, is played to 15 points.

9-11 Division
